Research Interest

Aerogel-based functional composites

(1)Lightweight and thermal-insulating polymer composite aerogels

A green and efficient method for preparing polyimide composite aerogels was established.

Lightweight, super-thermal insulating and super-elastic polyimide nanofiber aerogels have been developed.

(2)Aerogel composite fibers/fabrics for personal thermal management

Lightweight, mechanically strong and thermal insulating polyimide aerogel fibers have been prepared by a novel “wet-freeze” spinning strategy.

Functional polymer aerogel fabrics with excellent mechanical properties and intelligent thermal regulation as well as good breathability and wearability have been developed.

(3)Novel carbon aerogels for electrode materials

Nitrogen-doped carbon aerogels with hierarchical porous structure have been developed as electrode materials for supercapacitors with high-rate performance.

3D printed carbon aerogels with porous microstructure and customizable macrostructurehave been developed, achieving high areal capacitance as electrode materials for supercapacitors.
